Bryce Harper Shows Off His “Tebow”

OK, so the title sounds a bit wrong.  Get your heads out of the gutter people.

Bryce Harper is enjoying his time in the Arizona Fall League, so much so that he took some time to share his love for internet idiocy.  Here he is seen doing the “Tebow” in a public place.

First we had planking.  Now we have a tribute to an overrated and underachieving megastar. When the times get tough you take a moment a reflect to the gods.

Hopefully, Bryce Harper has a better start to his Major League career than Tim Tebow in the NFL.

A Look At Bryce Harper’s Final AFL Stats…

The Arizona Fall League comes to a close this Saturday and wonderkid Bryce Harper finished his season with some promising results.  While Harper was a Taxi Squad player (plays twice per week, Weds & Sat), he still held his own against much older and seasoned competition.

Many people were skeptical about the decision by Washington Nationals brass to make his the AFL first pro ball experience, but it’s clear Harper wouldn’t have wanted it any other way.

You can take a look at his final stats below and the interesting (and encouraging!) splits.  It’s amazing to see that exactly 50% of his hits were for extra bases.  Granted, it’s a small sample size, but the pressure to perform in such a situation should be noted, along with his two-games-per-week limit.

The three very promising splits are his VS. Lefty/Right w/ Runners On,  and w/ Runners In Scoring Position.

Welcome to the AFL Mr. Harper, 1st Home Run Video

Are you tired of hearing about Bryce Harper yet?  Well, I’m not and we can all officially welcome him to pro ball with his first Arizona Fall League home run.

On Saturday, Harper stepped into the box against Erik Davis (Padres) and blasted a right field shot, which left no doubts about his in-game power.  Bryce finished the game a triple shy of the cycle, finishing 3-5 w/ 2 RBI, HR.

The sound off the bat is just tremendous from this kid and his swing has really become a thing of beauty.  Gone from his mechanics are all the extra movements and uber-high leg kick, which many people criticized before the draft.

Stay tuned for more Bryce Harper video and coverage.

VIDEO: Bryce Harper’s First AFL Hit, Ground Rule Double

Happy Harper Friday!  It’s the week that just keeps on giving.

Thanks to D.C. Sports Blog, two video versions of Bryce Harper’s first Arizona Fall League hit, which was a bases loaded 2-RBI ground rule double.

The first video is definitely a little bit hyper, since it was done by a fan, but they summed up my reaction to the hit as I watch from my desk.

The second video is a short CSN news clip showing a field level view of the hit.  Apparently, Harper thought it was a home run.
